About NBA Players

The history of NBA players stretches back to the Basketball Association of America and National Basketball League era of the 1940s. Thousands of players have appeared in the NBA since that time, ranging from stars with careers lasting more than two decades to players who appeared in only a single game.

Player records have changed dramatically as the league has grown. Robert Parish was once the standard for NBA longevity, Vince Carter later established a 22-season record, and LeBron James surpassed that mark by reaching his 23rd season.

The league has also become far more international. Players from around the world now make up a major part of NBA rosters, continuing a trend that began decades earlier with international pioneers who helped expand professional basketball beyond the United States.

NBA Hoops Online documents player history through profiles, photographs, statistical records, draft histories, retired numbers, international players and unusual achievements from throughout professional basketball history.
