On February 22, 1995, Vlade Divac produced one of the most complete games of his NBA career, recording a 5x5 as the Los Angeles Lakers defeated the Philadelphia 76ers 112-100 at the Great Western Forum.

Divac finished with 19 points, 12 rebounds, 8 assists, 5 steals and 5 blocked shots in 38 minutes. He shot 8-for-15 from the field and 3-for-4 from the free-throw line.

The performance qualified as a 5x5 because Divac recorded at least five in each of the five major statistical categories: points, rebounds, assists, steals and blocks. He exceeded the minimum in three categories and came only two assists short of a triple-double.

Divac's 19-Point 5x5

A 5x5 requires a player to record at least five points, five rebounds, five assists, five steals and five blocked shots in the same game. Divac reached every category with 19 points, 12 rebounds, 8 assists, 5 steals and 5 blocks.

Unlike some 5x5 performances in which a player barely reaches the minimum in several categories, Divac comfortably exceeded the requirement in scoring, rebounding and assists while hitting exactly five steals and five blocks.

He also shot 8-for-15 from the field and 3-for-4 at the free-throw line.

A Center Doing Everything

Divac's stat line demonstrated the versatility that made him one of the NBA's most skilled passing centers. His eight assists tied Sedale Threatt for the Lakers' team lead, while his 12 rebounds were the most by any player in the game.

Divac also led both teams in steals with five and blocks with five. No other player recorded more than three steals or three blocks.

He therefore led the entire game in rebounds, steals and blocked shots while sharing the Lakers' lead in assists.

Five Steals and Five Blocks

The defensive half of the 5x5 was especially impressive. Divac recorded five steals and five blocks, giving him 10 combined steals and blocked shots.

The Lakers finished with 13 steals and nine blocks as a team. Divac alone accounted for five of each.

Philadelphia recorded seven steals and six blocks as a team, meaning Divac nearly matched the 76ers' entire combined defensive total by himself.

A Balanced Lakers Victory

Although Divac produced the most unusual stat line, the Lakers received balanced scoring throughout the roster. Anthony Peeler led Los Angeles with 21 points, Nick Van Exel scored 20 and Divac added 19.

Sam Bowie was outstanding off the bench with 14 points, nine rebounds, seven assists, two steals and two blocks in only 27 minutes. Sedale Threatt added 13 points and eight assists.

Los Angeles shot 47-for-94 from the field and recorded an impressive 36 assists on 47 made field goals.

Philadelphia's Top Performers

Willie Burton and Jeff Grayer shared Philadelphia's scoring lead with 21 points apiece. Dana Barros added 17 points, eight assists and three steals.

Derrick Alston scored 14 points and grabbed nine rebounds, while Sharone Wright finished with 13 points, nine rebounds and three blocked shots.

The 76ers shot 43-for-93 from the field but were hurt by 17 turnovers and a 9-for-13 performance at the free-throw line.

Divac and NBA 5x5 History

The 5x5 is one of basketball's best measures of all-around statistical production because it requires a player to contribute as a scorer, rebounder, passer and defender in the same game.

Divac joined a select group of players to achieve the feat. Earlier 5x5 performances preserved by NBAHoopsOnline include games by Hakeem Olajuwon and David Robinson.

Divac's combination of 12 rebounds and eight assists makes his performance stand out even within the already rare 5x5 category.
